    Jimmo, Phoebe, 98, ASHLAND, at Eagle Lake, June 20, 2010. Arrangements in the care of Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, Ashland.


 

    ASHLAND – Phoebe Jimmo, 98, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010, at Mercy Home in Eagle Lake. She was born July 24, 1911, in Ashland, the daughter of Paul and Rosalie (Theriault) Chalou.
    Phoebe grew up in Ashland and attended local schools. Later on, she met and married Herbie Jimmo in 1931, and they raised one son, Carlton.
    Phoebe and Herbie operated Jimmo’s Grocery for many years as well as owning a small fleet of school buses which they contracted to the MSAD  32. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, as well as a charter member of Our Lady of the Snow’s Sodality. Phoebe was also a proud supporter of the Priests of St. Mark’s Catholic Church and will be sadly missed by all the parishioners there. In August of 2008, she became the recipient of the Golden Cane in Ashland.
    Phoebe enjoyed picking wild blueberries, as well as knitting and crocheting mittens and booties for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
    She is survived by her son, Carlton and his wife Catherine (Stewart) Jimmo of  Springfield, VA; six grandchildren: Scott Jimmo of Alexandria, VA, Holly B. Kerrigan of Enfield, CT, Christopher H. Jimmo of Springfield, VA, Jeffrey L. Jimmo and his wife Stephanie of Mount Holly, NC, Timothy S. Jimmo and his wife Natalie of Manassas, VA, Andrew P. Jimmo and his wife Lynn of Wood-bridge, VA; seven great- grandchildren: Evan Jimmo, Heather Kerrigan, Abigail Brooks, Kyle and Joshua Jimmo, Gracie and Lily Jimmo; and one great-great-granddaughter, Maddylen Page. She also leaves behind a younger brother, Alphonse Chalou of Presque Isle, as well as several nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her  husband, Herbie; and two brothers, Victor Chalou and Edmund Chalou; as well as a very special nephew, Adre Chalou.
    Friends called 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2010, at the Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., Ashland. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Ashland with the Rev. Aaron Damboise celebrant. Interment took place at St. Mark’s Catholic Cemetery. Following the service, there was a reception at the church fellowship hall. Arrangements in care of Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home.
