CELEBRATE 55 YEARS — Lou and Louise Calabrese celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary June 18 at the Presque Isle Country Club with a special dinner. According to Louise, it was so special, and they enjoyed being at the first serving of this monthly gala dinner. “They made us feel like a new bride and groom all over again. Fresh flowers were cut from the garden just for our table … the waitress Jen and her helper made our evening there so very memorable … and the menu was like something out of a plush Manhattan restaurant.”

Dan Rooney played his guitar and personally asked if he could play and sing a song in honor of the couple’s 55th anniversary. He selected Eric Clapton’s song “Wonderful Tonight.” Louise said he performed a beautiful rendition of that song, setting the mood for the couple to drift back to the years of their marriage together. They reminisced together about the day of their wedding and all the special moments from their honeymoon. The couple is looking forward to returning to the next monthly dinner evening!

The Castle Hill Grange Hall Preservation Society held its monthly meeting on June 22. Topics discussed included finishing the hallway leading to the bathrooms (flooring, handicap rail, and trim work), cleaning out the closet in the hallway, and hanging curtains for the windows in the main floor.
Their bake-less sale was deemed a success, taking in $416 and no one had to cook! If you didn’t get a chance to donate, please contact any member. Scrubbies are now being sold around town. Thank you to Cathie Farnum for donating them the Society to sell.
If you would like to see the Grange Hall continue to stay open to host functions and voting, new members are encouraged to join. Only one hour a month and a financial donation of $10 per year would greatly assist the Society. Meetings are held from February through November. Donations of time and fresh ideas are welcome!
Hall rental is $100 and can be used for showers, family reunions, anniversary celebrations and birthday parties. The Hall is available for rent from May through the first weekend in November.
