Avatar International, a research and consulting company based in Orlando has recognized Cary Medical Center for ‘Exceeding Customer Expectations’ for 2009.  This is the fourth consecutive year and sixth out of the last seven years that Cary has been so honored.

The recognition is based on results of patient surveys that were completed by persons who had experienced care at the hospital during 2009. Avatar uses a proprietary formula developed by the company to assess expectations of patients prior to utilizing services at the hospital and compares them to actual survey results.
Shawn Anderson, chief operating officer at Cary Medical Center, who coordinates the Avatar survey program at the hospital, explained that staying focused on service excellence is a constant priority.
“Cary Medical Center has a long and honored tradition of providing exceptional customer service,” said Anderson, who tracks all survey results.  “We have high expectations of our staff in living this tradition and we stress this to all new employees during orientation as well as during ongoing customer service training. We believe that providing excellence in serving our patients and their families is just the right thing to do.”
In making the announcement recognizing Cary Medical Center, David Medvedeff, PharmD, MBA, chief executive officer of Avatar said, “One of the many challenges facing hospitals today is attempting not only to meet, but to exceed their patient’s expectations. Cary Medical Center has proven it is capable of exceeding its patients’ expectations and embodies putting patients first.”
In recognition of the award, Cary will receive a glass trophy symbolizing excellence in customer service.
