Baseball under way at PI rec department

Minor League baseball

    Two minor league baseball games were played Friday, with K of C victorious over Savings Bank, 10-3. Jonah Hudson got the win for the K of C and helped at the plate with two singles. Mason Young, Gage Young, Karsten Bourgoine and Andrew Hewitt all added singles to help K of C.  In the field Josh Baldwin, Torey Levesque, William Bridges, Chase Quirion, Ian Franz and Brady Gallagher-Easter all made key plays. 

    Jake Stevens took the pitching loss for Savings Bank, but led his team at the plate with two singles. Max Barley and Eric Tompkins each had singles, while Jack Bonville made a great defensive play.  
    In the second game of the morning, Key Bank blanked Katahdin Trust, 7-0. Jaren Winger threw a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts, while Jack Beaulieu had two hits, Drew Cameron a single and Matthew O’Connell reached base three times.  Kyler Caron and Rylee Albert struck out six batters each in a losing cause.

 
Major League baseball

    In the first game of major league play, the Elks beat Rotary by a score of 12-8. Brad Kinney got the win as Brycen Libby was handed the loss. Kinney gave up only one hit in three innings of work. Jake Kinney made an impressive catch behind Khasen Lowe at third base for the Elks. Libby had nine strikeouts in four innings and Alex Brewer played a solid game behind the plate. At bat for the Elks, Kyle Ryder had a two-run triple and scored three times. Lowe scored four times, Libby had a two-run double and Kyle Kilcollins had a key bunt in the fourth inning. 

 
Pony League baseball

    Aaron Kofstad picked up the win as Rod Brewer Design beat Fort Fairfield, 11-5. At the plate, Corey Belanger, Cody Flannery, Aaron Kofstad, Keeghan Lowe, Matt Tilley and Ryder Soucy all had singles to help win the game as Belanger scored three times. On defense, Ryley Norton and Quinn Graves teamed up for six putouts, while Kyle Goupille had three catches to end each inning in center field. Kofstad had five strikeouts in his outing, two that ended Fort Fairfield rallies. 
    Last Wednesday, Mapleton and RBD took part in a close contest, but Mapleton edged RBD, 11-10. The bats came alive for RBD as Isaac Lajoie sparked a five-run rally in the fourth with a home run. Cody Flannery went 3 for 3 with 4 RBIs and Kyle Goupille added a RBI double. On the mound, Corey Belanger took the loss, but showed promise by striking out four. Goupille relieved Belanger and had a stellar debut on the hill. 
    Friday afternoon marked the first meeting between the two Presque Isle teams. The Wildcats came out hitting and won 19-2. At the plate, the Wildcats were led by Wilder York who had a home run and two triples, Jake Player with a double and two singles, Tyler Seeley with a single, a double and a triple, Scott Rhynold with a double and a single, Cody Lyford and Josh Gordon each with a  double and Carson Wilcox with a single. 
    RBD’s hitting consisted of singles by Corey Belanger, Ben Buckley and Chase Norton. The Wildcats’ Josh Gordon picked up the win over Chase Norton. Defensively, both teams displayed great leather.  Wildcat’s Tyler Seeley made a great catch along with Ben Buckley and Cody Flannery for RBD. Belanger of RBD also had a great diving catch to end the fourth inning.  
    The Wildcats lost to Mapleton, 14-8. The winning pitcher Jonah Stephenson, while Player suffered the defeat. The leading hitters for the Wildcats were Wilder York with two singles, Jake Player with a home run and a single, Tyler Seeley with a triple and Josh Gordon with a double. Making key defensive plays were Scott Rhynold, Wilder York, Josh Gordon, Cody Lyford, Karson Wilcox, Tyler Seeley and Andrew Paterson.
