Limestone’s annual 4th of July celebration

    LIMESTONE — If you haven’t already attended some of the Fourth of July festivities in Limestone then get ready because the best is yet to come.     Unless specified otherwise, activities are held in downtown Limestone and at Trafton Lake.
Fourth of July events
June 30
    11 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Strawberry Shortcake at the Masonic Lodge on Main St.. FMI call Jane Griffeth at 325-4018.
    1 – 3 p.m.: Down & Dirty at The Artist’s Nook for ages 3 – 12. FMI call Carol Cote at 325-4258.
    6 – 8 p.m.    Vacation Bible school
July 1
    10 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Teddy Bear Picnic at Albert Michaud Memorial Park. Picnic lunch available for $3. FMI call Grace O’Neal at 325-3491.
    11 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Free child ID kits and presentation “Don’t talk to Strangers” at the park.
    11 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Frisbee Fun under the Sun at the park, four age categories and prizes awarded.
    11 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Sun Safety Booth at the park
    11 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Free HMMWV rides at the park
    11 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Hurricane Limestone at the park
    6 – 8 p.m.    Vacation Bible school
July 2
    3:30 p.m.: Pet Show at the park. FMI call Carol Cote at 325-4258.
    4 – 5:30 p.m.: Police demonstrations at the park
    5:30 p.m.: Bike Safety Course at the park
    6 p.m.    : Scavenger Hunt at the park. FMI call Grace O’Neal at 325-3491
July 3
    7 – 9 a.m.: Methodist Men’s Ham and Pancake Breakfast at United Methodist Church
    8 a.m.: Limestone Rotary Club Golf Tournament at Limestone Country Club. 4-person teams. FMI call Larry Zenzius at 325-4667.
    9 a.m.: Co-ed Softball tournament at the park. Call rec. dept. to register or be on a team.
    4 – 6 p.m.: Chicken Pie supper at St. Louis Catholic church. FMI call Norma and Tony Stephan at 325-4586.
    6:30 – 9 p.m.: Recreational children’s games at street dance location.
    7:30 p.m.:Performance by “Steppin’ Time” country line dancers at street dance location.
    9 p.m. – 12 a.m.:Street dance with band “Turning Point” on Main St/Foster Ave. FMI call Deana Williams at 328-9580.
July 4
    8 a.m.:Red, White and Blue 9-hole Golf Tournament at Country Club. Contact Country Club.
    8 a.m.: Interfaith Service at the park. Reverend Robert Amuzzini and Pastor Ellen Cleaves.
    9 a.m.: Pizza eating contest at AL-BEAR’s. Five age categories and prizes awarded.
    11 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Annual chicken BBQ at Limestone Volunteer Fire Dept.
    Noon: Before parade, performances by “Steppin Time” line dancers, Annie Charles and other local performers at parade reviewing stand.
    1 p.m.    : In God We Trust” parade. FMI call Grace O’Neal at 325-3491.
    2 p.m.: Duck 500 Race on Bridge St. $500 prize. See any volunteer fire member for a ticket.
    2 p.m. – 10 p.m.: Trafton Lake activities – free admittance. Music by DJ “Good Vibrations”. Food concessions and children’s games.
    3 p.m.: Parade trophies announced and awarded by Limestone queens at Trafton Lake
    4 – 6 p.m.: Country Dreamers band at Trafton Lake
Approx. 9 p.m.: Fireworks over the lake

July 1: 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. AL-BEARS – free baby ice cream cone with any purchase
July 2: all day    Cote Auto – .05 cents off gallon of gas
July 3: beginning at 10 a.m. The Closet – free coffee/lemonade & cookies
July 4: all day    Limestone Country Club – free hot dogs for all players.
