Local players out of Junior League tourney

    In District 3 Junior League action, the Houlton all-stars were eliminated on Saturday with a 7-2 loss to Hermon at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor.
    The Houlton all-stars tied the game at 2-all in the top of the fifth, but Hermon scored three runs in the bottom of the frame and added two more in the sixth to pull away for the win.
    Nick Guiod led Houlton with a pair of singles.
    In their first game on Saturday, the Houlton all-stars fell to Bangor, 12-2.
    Houlton opened the game with a run, but Bangor answered in the bottom of the frame, as 14 players went to the plate to score nine runs, adding one in the third, fourth and fifth innings. Houlton’s second run was scored in the top of the fourth. Bangor outhit Houlton, 11-6.
    Alex Donovan paced Houlton with a double.
