Rather a cat get your tongue than a dog get your potato. Lacy, a poodle owned by Guilda Thibodeau of Valley Woodworking, stole a decorated (or ‘tricked out’ in vehicle terms) potato racecar that the Caribou Chamber of Commerce and Industry had prepared for a trial run of Xtreme Potato Racing.

Lacy, a poodle, recently snagged a potato racing car before a test run of Xtreme Potato Racing and did a bit of anti-decorating on the spud, possibly to make it more aerodynamic.
Apparently Lacy had her own designing concept for the potato car and has spent the last five days guarding her carefully designed super-tuber racer. For those who think they could design a potato car that would race better than Lacy’s in the Pinewood Derby type racing, Xtreme Potato Racing takes place on July 15 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the food court in downtown Fort Fairfield as part of the Maine Potato Blossom Festival festivities. Children ages 4 to 14 are encouraged to join the Chamber as they build potato racing cars from 10 a.m. until noon for racing between noon and 2 p.m. Awards will be given in a variet of categories, such as fastest and most creative. Additional information can be obtained by contacting the chamber at 498-6156.
