The Maine State Police arrested a Caribou teen on Friday in Pittsfield after a high speed chase on Interstate 95 that reached speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour; the chase took place hours after the teen was indicted on charges from a May 15 police chase through the streets of Caribou.
Jason Boyd, 18, was arrested on June 9 after fleeing his vehicle following a police chase.
Maine State Trooper Chretien first spotted Boyd traveling 98 miles per hour on the interstate in a 2005 Hyundai Electra that had been stolen from Caribou during the night of July 8.
The Caribou teen fled when Chretien signaled for him to pull over and eventually clipped another vehicle, pulled the stolen car over and ran into the woods. A canine unit located Boyd later that evening.
This is the second time this year that Boyd has been arrested following a high-speed chase; on May 15, Boyd was arrested in Caribou after taking Caribou Police officers and Maine State troopers through a high-speed chase. For that instance, Boyd faced charged including operating under the influence of drugs, reckless conduct, operating after suspension, speeding 30-plus miles per hour over the limit, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and the felony of eluding a police officer. During that chase, Boyd also rammed the back of Caribou Police Officer Bell’s police cruiser and caused $5,000 worth of damage.
