    CARRIS, Bettie Ruth (King), 75, EAST VARICK, July 16, 2010, at Mars Hill. A memorial service will be held at the Christ Episcopal Church in Williard, NY, on Saturday, July 24, 2010, at 11 a.m.


 

    EAST VARICK – Bettie Carris, 75, passed away Friday, July 16, 2010. She was born February 11, 1935, in Arkansas City, Kansas, and was the daughter of the late Ruth Florence Weaver and Earl Clyde King. She graduated from High School in 1953, and then went on to graduate from Hillcrest Medical Center School of Nursing in 1956 as a Registered Nurse. Bettie was married to Edwin D. Carris on November 23, 1957. She was a private surgical nurse for a neurosurgeon in Tulsa, OK, and eventually went on to work in the operating rooms of hospitals in Del Rio, TX; Oxnard, CA; Presque Isle, ME; Geneva, NY; and Ithaca, NY.
    Bettie enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, and various arts and crafts. she also belonged to the Caribou Choral Society while they lived in Maine, as she loved to sing.
    Bettie is loved and missed by her husband of 53 years, Edwin D. Carris; and their children, Cimmerly Norkus and her husband Jeffrey, David Carris and his wife Susan, Aleshia Farley and her fiance Jeff, and Melissa DiPasquale and her husband Frank.
    Ed and Bettie have eight grandchildren, Constance, Kristian and Raymond Norkus, Daniel and Katherine Carris, Jessica and Nicklaus Farley, and Joshua Carris.
    Bettie is predeceased by her mother and father, Ruth and Earl King; as well as her sister and brother, Delores Lennon and Earl Clyde King Jr.
    A memorial sevice will be held at the Christ Episcopal Church in Williard, NY, on Saturday July 24, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be given in Bettie’s name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America,
