America the beautiful?
To the editor:
On July 4th, we celebrated the day called Independence Day and I ask the following question. What has happened to America that was once the light of the world and hope for a better life for millions of people around the world?
In the Holy Bible, “God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth.”
I wonder what his thoughts would be looking down upon the earth today? I believe that life in America is in the same condition as it was in the days of Noah when the flood came.
As we look at the things happening in the world, how close are we to the return of Christ and the end of life on earth? Consider these facts: One war after the other since World War I; financial problems in the world especially in America; floods all over our country and the world; volcanoes erupting all around us; earthquakes so frequent, even in the oceans; tidal waves; mudslides, rock slides; tropical storms and hurricanes on the increase.
Also, the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico; corruption in our governments; people living as they did in the days when God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for their wickedness; unemployment on the rise; people losing their homes; and crime and domestic abuse on the increase.
Truly we are living in a world out of control, with no one who can get things back under control.
It is not my intent to paint a picture of doom but to reflect on why America has moved from the greatest nation that has ever existed to a nation of doubt, frustration, anger and have lost hope that conditions will ever get better.
