The Aroostook Band of Micmacs will be hosting their 16th annual Mawiomi of Tribes at Spruce Haven in Caribou during the weekend of August 20-22. All are welcome to attend and enjoy the Native American drumming, dancing and local vendors as they showcase their arts. This is drug and alcohol free event.

RV and tent sites are available with a Micmac traditional meal served on Saturday, Aug. 21. The Band will be hosting a first annual Fiddling Competition on Saturday evening with a $25 entry fee. There will also be a skillet throwing competition ($5 per entry) and a horseshoe tournament ($10 per team).

“Come to socialize with our elders, our people and come see our newest attractions, the longhouse and the wigwams, built by our local youth,” said John Dennis, cultural/community development director for the Aroostook Band of Micmacs.
