Corey, Elizabeth N., 94, Waterville, July 17, 2010. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., July 28, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Caribou. Arrangements are in the care of Gallant Funeral Home, Waterville.
Waterville – Elizabeth “Liz” N. Corey of Waterville, formerly of Caribou, died July 17, 2010, at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home.
She was born in Williston, N.D. Mar. 5, 1916, to Edward and Sadie (Alkil) Nedoff.
She graduated from Williston High School. She married Joseph Corey and moved to Caribou after he left the Navy. They operated Corey’s Bakery in Caribou and later The Outpost Steakhouse in Limestone. After the Outpost burned, she worked at various restaurants and finally, at Green Acres with her sister-in-law, Mary. She was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary in her younger days.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Corey and wife, Joan of Waterville; daughter, Jacqueline Anderson and husband, Jerald of Trumbull, Conn.; son, Michael Corey; and daughter, Wanda Bauer and husband, Leo of Pittsburgh, Pa.; sisters, Helen Owen and husband, William, Josephine Littlejohn and husband, William, Mary Himenes and Louise Sharek all of Sacramento, Calif. area; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; ex-husband, Joseph Corey; brothers, Joseph and John Nedoff; daughter, Gloria; her friend and sister-in-law, Mary Corey.
After cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wed., July 28, 2010, at Holy Rosary Church in Caribou. Interment will follow at the Old Holy Rosary Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow in the Church Hall.
