Although it is difficult to realize, summer vacation will soon be over and another school year beginning. We hope everyone has had a fun and relaxing summer and that staff and students are looking forward to returning.
The staff will gather for meetings on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 23 and 24. All district staff will be meeting at the high school on Monday at 7:30 a.m. and at their individual schools on Tuesday. The first day of school for students will be Wednesday, Aug. 25. On Tuesday evening, Aug. 24, the seventh graders and their parents will meet for a cookout and orientation at 5 p.m. This will take place in the cafeteria and auditorium at the high school. Students and parents will meet with teachers, and parents will have a time to ask questions. Lockers may be purchased at that time. The price is $4. Also on the same evening, ninth graders and parents will meet for orientation in the auditorium at 6:15. Parents and students will meet with ninth grade teachers, and parents will have a time to ask questions and receive information about expectations for their students entering high school. Dessert will be served at the end of the evening.
School pictures will be taken on Tuesday, Aug. 31. Information will be sent home with the students at the beginning of school. On Friday, Sept. 4, Jostens, our classring company, will be holding an informational meeting for sophomores. They will be able to order rings on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 8 and 9.
Soccer practices have started at all levels. The first varsity girls’ home game will be played on Aug. 23 vs. Madawaska at 6 p.m. and the varsity girls and boys will be home against Fort Kent at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27. The golf team will have their first home match against Caribou at 4 p.m. on Sept. 1.
