Dorothy B. (West) Robinson, 92, passed away peacefully Sept. 19, 2010, at Mars Hill Nursing Home. She was born June 13, 1918, in Garfield Plt., daughter of Howard and Elma (Clayton) West.
An avid outdoors person throughout her life she enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, and snowmobiling. In later life she spent many hours crocheting and was an avid reader. While raising six children she also played an important role during harvest, driving truck, rolling barrels, picking potatoes, and any necessary task. She always had a large garden from which she gathered and canned or froze great quantities of vegetables necessary to feed a large family. As her children grew and started having children of their own, she heaped large portions of love and attention on each. A big part of her life included the many animals she raised and loved.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte (Robinson) Rafford Howe; granddaughters, Dorothy, Darlene, and Jean Rafford of Mapleton; grandsons, Allan Rafford, his wife Lisa, and their three sons, Christian, Ben, and Jeremy of Oklahoma City, OK and Deane Rafford, his wife Kim of Garfield Plt., and their children, Daniel and Vanessa; and great-granddaughters, Alyssa and Anna, daughters of Deanna (Rafford) Trombley; son, Richard and his wife Susan of Burlington, CT., and their daughters Lisa, Wendy, Terri, Katie, and stepson Daniel Libby; son, Donn and his wife Myra of West Columbia, SC., granddaughter Kim Martin, two grandsons, Donn B. and Daniel R., and three great-granddaughters; daughter, Carol and her husband Milton Ouellette of Thornton, N.H., two grandchildren, Milton Jr. and Melinda LaBrecque; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Joey LaBrecque and Justin and Marlene Ouellette; daughter, Virginia and her husband Terry Overlock of Ocala, Fl., grandson, Terry Jr., his wife Nancy, and two great-grandsons, Christopher and Derek of Mobile, AL.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wayne; son, Daniel; and great-granddaughter, Deanna Marie (Rafford) Trombley; and son-in-law, Tom Howe.
She will be sorely missed by good friends, Jerry Bruner, Wendy and Hollis Robinson.
