DETWEILER, Robert H., 81, FORT FAIRFIELD, at Caribou, September 15, 2010. Arrangements are in the care of Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.
FORT FAIRFIELD – Robert H. Detweiler, 81, husband of the late Marguerite (Patterson) Detweiler, passed away Wednesday morning, September 15, 2010, at a Caribou healthcare facility after a brief illness. He was born March 28, 1929, in Presque Isle, the son Alvah F. and Marcia (Bragdon) Detweiler.
Robert was educated in the Presque Isle school system and was a graduate of the Presque Isle High School. He went on to further his education at the Aroostook School of Commerce and had been employed by the United States Civil Service at the former Loring Air Force Base, Limestone, for many years as an inventory manager until his retirement in 1984. He was married to Marguerite Patterson on July 14, 1956, and attended the Fort Fairfield Community Wesleyan Church for several years. Bob had been a resident of Fort Fairfield for many years, wintering in various locations in Florida.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Detweiler was predeceased by wife, Marguerite on February 24, 2009.
He is survived by several cousins, Arthur Crouse and his wife Jane of Presque Isle, Catherine White and her husband Paul of Alton, New Hampshire, Mary Ritchie and her husband Allen of Lake Baker, New Brunswick, Beth Allen of Merrimack, New Hampshire, Dorothy and George Thomas of Florida; extended family members, Cecil and Clara Jackson of Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, David and Ruby-Jean Mutch of Fredericton, New Brunswick. He also leaves behind a very special friend, Connie Patterson of Presque Isle.
A graveside service of committal was conducted Saturday, September 18, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Detweiler to the Mark and Emily Turner Memorial Library, to help with the Library Building Expansion Project, 39 Second Street, Presque Isle, 04769. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
