The Houlton High School golf team picked up two big wins over Presque Isle and Caribou this week. The Shires topped visiting Presque Isle 152-178 last Thursday and the day before they defeated host Caribou, 170-181.
Ian Gervais of Houlton was the low medalist against Presque Isle with a 34, while Caribou’s Ben Wyman took the honors last Wednesday with a 39. Houlton scores against Presque Isle were: Logan Shaffer, 38; Parker Sanderson and Nick Chase, 40s; Gaige Flewelling, 44; Logan Holmes, 50; Ethan Quint, Ben Flewelling and Isaac Brown, 51s; Zach Ritchie, Cole McLaughlin, Doug Dickison and Alex Donovan, all 53s.
For Presque Isle, Evan Waddell, 41; Travis Dyer and Alex Tuttle, 45s; Adam Flynn and Gabe Player, 47s; Cody Merrill, 48; Matt Freeman, 49; Nate Sperry, 50 and Jordan Hallett, 53.
Both Presque Isle and Houlton are currently 4-1.
Houlton scores against Caribou were: Chase, 41; Gervais, Sanderson and Flewelling, 43s; Shaffer, 45; Holmes, 47; Quint, 48; McLaughlin, 52; Dickison, 53; Donovan, 54; Ritchie, 56; Flewelling, 59 and Brown, 73.
For Caribou, Matt Kamm, 42; Caleb Chapman, 47; Reggie Rideout and Michael Boone, 53s; Corey Rideout, 55; Derek Dufour and Connor Thibeault, 58s.
The Houlton golfers have a four-way match with Presque Isle, Caribou and Fort Kent on Tuesday at JaTo. The regionals will also be held at JaTo Highlands in Lincoln on Sept. 30.
