AUGUSTA — An important expression of support for all Maine landowners will be made this Saturday with a major trash clean-up in 14 communities.
Sponsored by the state’s Landowner Relations Program (LOR), the Landowner Appreciation Clean-up Day will focus on helping landowners get rid of the trash that has been dumped on their property by unthinking and uncaring violators, according to Bob Duplessie, LOR director.
The clean-up will take place starting at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, in 14 communities, with volunteer teams from ATV, snowmobile and sportsmen clubs, plus land trusts, doing the work, Duplessie said. About 15 organizations, some with several volunteer teams working in different locations in each community, will take part, he said. A small grant from the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund is helping with some of the costs.
The communities involved are: Augusta, Winslow, Hampden, Limington, Standish, Sebago, Oxford, Waterford, Waterboro, Millinocket, Orono, Veazie, Old Town and Presque Isle.
