    CAULFIELD, Louise A. Whitehead, 93, PRESQUE ISLE, at Mars Hill, October 1, 2010. There will be no services. Arrangements in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.


 

    PRESQUE ISLE – Louise A. Whitehead Caulfield, 93, died at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill, on October 1, 2010, surrounded by her family. Born in Foxborough, MA, on April 2, 1917, she was the daughter of Barnett Eli Whitehead and Bridget Theresa Mullen Whitehead.
    A graduate of Girls High School of Boston, she and Robert married at the Gate of Heaven Church in South Boston on Robert's twenty-sixth birthday. They moved to Presque Isle in 1945, where they lovingly raised their six children and were lifelong members of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
    Louise will be remembered for her generosity, her sense of beauty, and her deep trust in God. The way she tended her gardens and cared for others made the world a more beautiful place. She expressed her love and sense of beauty through her paintings, which will be treasured by her children.
    She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; her infant daughter, Mary; her son, Arthur Edmund; her brothers, Charles and James; and her sister, Betty.
    She is survived by her sister, Mary E. Meyers of Boston; and five children and their spouses: Robert I. Caulfield, Jr, and his love, Carol Schultz of Largo, FL, Ann Louise Albert and her husband, Peter of Presque Isle, Peter Bernard Caulfield and his wife, Dorothe of Fredericton, NB, Joseph Francis Caulfield and his wife, Diane of Panama City, FL, Jane Frances Caulfield Brissette and her husband,, Brian of Presque Isle; her special daughter-in-law, Patricia Caulfield; sixteen grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; friend and confidante, Mrs. Pat Cormier; and roommate, Rena Doak.
    The family is grateful for the loving compassion shown to Louise by the AHC nurses and staff, as well as that of Dr. Jones.
    In honor of Louise’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, with the Reverend Jean-Paul LeBrie celebrant.  Interment was at St. Mary's North Main Street Cemetery followed by a reception at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
