Happy Losers meet
The Happy Losers meeting was held Nov.24th at the Congreational Church in Island Falls. Loretta Bouchard our co-leader opened our meeting with our pledge and roll call. Seven ladies weighed-in and six attended our class.
Mary Shaw was the loser of the week, and Loretta Bouchard was runner-up. Great job ladies! Our Christmas party will be Dec.10. Hope everyone can attend. Our secretary and treasurer gave reports for the week.
Loretta Bouchard led the program for the week. Her topic was on an article about artificial sweeteners especially one called aspartame. Meetings are always interesting and informative. Please feel welcome to our group every Wednesday, 8 to 8:45am weigh-ins and meeting starts at 9 a.m. Call 365-4884 for more information.

Island Falls News
Steve and Donna Berry were in Presque Isle at the home of their daughter, Christine and their two granddaughters, Paige and Chloe Lento, where they all enjoyed  a great Thanksgiving dinner. Paige had recently undergone surgery in Boston but was feeling fine and had a great time with the grandparents.
Had a nice note from a former resident, Clayton Varney, now residing in Winterport, and says he will be happy to be back in the spring to spend the summer as he misses seeing and talking with his many friends here. Clayton and Charlene Webb have been Thanksgiving guests of their niece and family, Greg and Darlene Kenny, Shawna, Matthew and Trey, in Bangor, and returned home on the weekend.
Charlene took down some of her good homemade rolls, a couple of pies and a delicious fruit salad for their Thanksgiving dinner. John and Shelley Stevens and Riva Hawkes attended the Thanksgiving dinner in Staceyville prepared by VFW members and helpers and held at the VFW post home. The food was delicious and plentiful and many people attended and the weather cooperated, as it was nice and sunny.
Saw a large gray squirrel in one of my feeders the other day, and, as usual, he was upside down, hanging on for dear life with his two front paws, while trying to eat as many sunflower seeds as he could. The little chickadees have to stay in the background when he is around but come crowding back quickly when he leaves. Have a few gold finch now, and several nuthatches. Have had the doe and her two lambs in the back garden recently and took out some of the bread and apples that they like. The doe comes trotting right up to the food area while I am still there but the lambs are still a bit leery of me and arrive later. I’m surprised they don’t flee into the woods when they see me, but guess they are now used to having me around.
