PRESQUE ISLE — With Christmas a little more than a month away, Santa will need all the help he can get to have enough toys for all the deserving boys and girls he’ll visit this year. Stepping in to offer the Jolly Old Elf some help during the city’s annual Light Parade on Dec. 4 will be a group of local ‘elves’ – better known as members of the Presque Isle Kiwanis and TAMC.

The Kiwanis Club is joining forces with TAMC in asking spectators to bring a toy or two to this year’s parade, with members collecting as they make their way through downtown.

“Donors can help bring joy to a child this holiday season by donating a toy during Presque Isle’s Holiday Light Parade on Saturday, Dec. 4. TAMC and the Kiwanis Club are teaming up again this year to hold a toy drive during the parade. All toys collected will be distributed to local children through the Kiwanis’s Community Christmas Basket Program,” said Kerri Watson-Blaisdell, TAMC’s public relations coordinator.

Toys suitable for children of all ages will be gathered and distributed to families throughout the community prior to Christmas.

“Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the parade and members of the Peanuts gang from TAMC and the Kiwanis Club will pick items up when the TAMC/Kiwanis float passes by,” said Watson-Blaisdell.

Watson-Blaisdell said gifts of any size are encouraged.

“Even small gifts can make a big difference in a local child’s life,” Watson-Blaisdell said.
