CARIBOU — Sunny skies, snow-packed roads and 20-degree temperatures greeted a record 93 participants in the 25th annual Turkey Trot 5K Road Race, which was sponsored by Cary Medical Center and held at Caribou High School Saturday morning.

Spencer McElwain of Caribou led the men in 17 minutes and 4 seconds, while Susan Plissey of Stockholm led the women in a time of 21:24.

Age division winners were Jacob Michaud (20:07) and Emily Wright (24:09) in the under-19 category, Evan Graves (17:40) and Michelle Roy (23:55) in the 19-39 group; and Jamie Clasby (21:48) and Angie Ewings (22:50) led the masters.

THE CHASE IS ON – The Saturday after Thanksgiving is thought to be a day for leftovers, but Waldo Libby, top photo, had different ideas as dressed in a chef’s outfit, complete with a baster, he tries to chase down Tom Turkey, at bottom, during the five-kilometer road race held in Caribou. The turkey won this time, finishing in 24:35 compared to Libby’s time of 25:37. It was all part of the fun at the 25th annual Turkey Trot.

HUSBAND-WIFE DUO – Heidi and Kyle Bartley of Presque Isle ran together in Saturday’s Turkey Trot 5K in Caribou. The couple crossed the finish line in 30 minutes and 16 seconds.

HAVING FUN WHILE SHE RUNS is Renee Ennis of Presque Isle, left, who hams it up midway through Saturday’s Turkey Trot 5K Road Race in Caribou. At center is Julie French and at right is French’s husband, Ed Therrien, both from Presque Isle. Ennis came in 19th overall in 25:05, while French was 28th in 26:05 and Therrien one slot ahead in 25:55.
