PRESQUE ISLE — Just in time for the holiday gift-giving season, the Nordic Heritage Center and 10th Mountain sport clubs and Maine Winter Sports Center have tickets available for the upcoming E.ON IBU World Cup Biathlon North American series.

Daily tickets for the Feb. 4-6 competition in Presque Isle and the Feb. 10-13, 2011 races in Fort Kent are $5 each at participating outlets and on the venue websites www.biathlon-presqueisle.org or www.biathlon-fortkent.org. Students age 17 and under will not be charged admission to the World Cup races.

“This is a tremendous value for the price as tickets for a World Cup event in Europe sell for $50 or more. This is a rare opportunity to see Olympic athletes compete in our home venue and watch a world class event in person,” said Jane Towle, chief of press and promotion for the Nordic Heritage Sport Club.

“They also make great stocking stuffers,” she added.

Tickets are available at the following locations: Dead River Food Trend, Caribou; Ezzy’s Music Shop and The Ski Shop, Van Buren; York’s Book Store, Houlton; The Forum and Mojo, Presque Isle; Millers Discount, Fort Kent; Anderson’s Store, Stockholm; and 1st Choice Wireless,  Madawaska, Caribou, Presque Isle and Lincoln.

The opening ceremonies to be held at UM-Presque Isle’s Gentile Hall health complex on Thursday, Feb. 3 and closing ceremonies at the UM-Fort Kent on Sunday, Feb. 13 will also have a limited seating capacity with tickets sold on limited basis.
