    Clayton Fraser, 90,  passed away peacefully at home on December 11, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 2, 1920.
    Clayton, predeceased by his ever-loving wife, Emma, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years, was a lifelong resident of Ludlow. Clayton was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and most recently great-great grandfather. Above all else, Clayton was particularly dedicated to his close-knit family and  he derived immense pleasure from spending time with them. A soft spoken man of few words, he was quick to laugh and faster yet to recognize an opportunity to instigate some fun. He had a wonderful sense of humor and the family gatherings were filled with enough love and memories to keep him with them always. He especially enjoyed the outdoors and shared his passion for hunting, fishing and trapping with generations of family members. Clayton, “The Bear Man,” was a well respected Registered Maine Guide and took great pride in the fact that his son and grandsons shared his passion for bear hunting and hunting with hounds.
    Clayton worked in the woods in the logging industry for many years and had a deep appreciation and respect for wildlife. He never failed to enjoy a ride at dusk through some of his favorite haunts, in the off chance that he might catch but a glimpse of any game that might be moving. Family and friends will always remember the award-winning stable of Appaloosas and Quarter horses that Clayton and Emma took such pride in. Four generations of equestrians shared their passion and countless hours of enjoyment be it on the trail or in the show ring. Many local area residents may remember visiting the wildlife menagerie, in particular the moose and black bears, which resided for many years on their farm in Ludlow.
    Clayton is survived by his three children, Judy Eastham and her husband, Raymond, Jill Hurd and her husband, Greg, and Jon Fraser, all from the Houlton area; seven grandchildren, Ken Eastham, Linda Kinney, Terri Dunn, Toni Eastham, Chris Eastham, Sherri French, and Shawn French; nine great-grandchildren, Tim Kinney, Ashley Eastham, Ben Kinney, Dustin Eastham, Lauren Eastham, Brandon Dunn, Madison Dunn, Alex Dunn, and Tanner Polchies; as well as one great-great-grandson Landyn Clark.
    Friends called at the Dunn Funeral Home 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 1 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. Interment will be in the Ludlow Cemetery.
