HOULTON — On Dec. 9, six students were recognized for completing the College Transitions program at the Houlton Higher Education Center. This 14-week program prepares recent high school or GED grads, as well as people who have been away from school, for the realities of college classes and schedules. Students at the event commented on the benefits to them – helping them make better course and career decisions and helping them in math, writing, and computers. Newly-elected Maine state legislators heard about the benefits of College Transitions statewide as well as locally. For more information about applying to the College Transitions program, contact Bernadette Farrar or Otis Smith at the Houlton Higher Education Center at 521-3100 x5.
