Residents at Little Madawaska Lake might have double checked their calendars on Tuesday morning, when they headed out to work. Just prior to where the bridge stands over the Little Madawaska River, water completely covered the road.
Historically, each spring, due to the run-off from the snow in the woods along with the ice leaving the river, the area surrounding the Little Lake Road is frequently flooded. The recent heavy rains have created noticeable increases in both the river and lake levels. To date, the lake has actually been frozen over (although with only a thin layer of ice) at least twice since Thanksgiving, but once again on Tuesday morning open water was visible.
