The Mapleton, Chapman, and Castle Hill Seniors have decided to discontinue their weekly meetings for the winter season, and will begin again in the spring Monday, April 4, 2011.
Mapleton Ladies Extension
The Mapleton Ladies Extension would like to thank Richard’s Tree Farm for donating the beautiful community Christmas tree located at the gazebo on Main Street in Mapleton. The continued contribution to the town is appreciated by all. We would also like to recognize the State Road Advent Christian Church’s Junior High Youth Group “Seekers,” led by Shari and David Cheney, for braving the cold and decorating the tree. Thank you, too, to Dale McHatten for picking up the tree and to Gary Brewer for putting it up. We hope that everyone gets enjoyment from the tree over the holiday season.
The Extension would also like to thank everyone who helped raise money for the Central Aroostook Humane Society by purchasing raffle tickets on our primitive country Christmas Tree Raffle. The lucky winner of the tree was Lyn Quist. The following entities contributed items included in the raffle – Putnam’s Sleigh Rides, Mapleton Restaurant, The Pizza House, Graves’ Shop ‘n Save, Regina Craig and Garden Gate Fabrics.
Our yearly Christmas party was held at the home of Regina Craig on Dec. 3. We had a wonderful time making fresh kissing balls and/or wreaths. We enjoyed delicious food and ended the evening with a Yankee swap. Attending were Sylvia McHatten, Shari Cheney, Tammy Piper, Sylvia Boub, Alex Cheney, Linda Hubbard and Liz Brewer.
Our next meeting will be Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. We will be meeting at the home of Laura McPherson’s for a glass bead-making demonstration. Our regular monthly meeting will follow. Anyone interested in joining our group, please contact Liz Brewer at 764-3427 for more information.
