A season for giving

A SEASON FOR GIVING — Bob Cleary, club manager for the Houlton Lodge of Elks, said once a few people start putting toys on the table for the annual Salvation Army toy drive, “everybody else started bringing in toys.” With him is Major Irma Pearl who commented on the need this year. “There are quite a few people who are unemployed. Some are even embarrassed that they have to come and they have never been to our program before. But, they want to make sure their children get some type of toy under the tree.”  Donations to the Salvation Army are welcome, she said, even at the last minute.
