Center closed

The Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center will be closed on Friday, Dec. 24 and Saturday, Dec. 25 in observance of Christmas Day.

Back country trips planned

On Dec. 28 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., a snowshoeing trip for youths in grades 3-6. Join us as we explore the great outdoors on snowshoes and find what is hiding beyond the beaten path. Snowshoes will be provided. The fee for this trip is $5 per youth, which includes a trailside hot lunch. Pre-registration is required and limited to 12 youths.

Skiing does not always have to be on a groomed ski trail. Aroostook County offers many hidden places that can be found on skis. A cross country ski adventure for youths in grades 3-6 will take place Thursday, Dec. 30. This trip from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. is $5 which includes a trailside hot lunch. Skis are provided, but those who have their own welcome to bring them. Pre-registration is required and limited to 12 participants.

Elks Hoop Shoot

Open to boys and girls ages 8-13, the Elks Hoop Shoot will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 29 at 10 a.m. There is no fee for this program. Local winners advance to the district, state, regional and national competitions. Pre-registration is required. Age is determined as of April 1, 2011.

Yoga classes

Yoga classes are being offered at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center on Tuesday and Thursdays from 9-10 a.m. and Saturdays from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The fee is $4 per class or punch cards may be purchased from the instructor at a rate of $30 for 10 classes.
