The Star City Senior Citizens met Dec. 9 at the Grant Memorial Methodist Church on Fleetwood St., for their regular meeting and potluck luncheon. There were 21 members present.
President Donna Devoe welcomed all members to the club. She also gave the blessing of the food for the luncheon.
After the luncheon, the meeting was called to order by President Devoe with prayers, flag salute and one verse of “America”.
Secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were given and accepted as read.
The club went to Bonanza for their Christmas Party instead of the church. The club decided not to have a gift exchange, opting to socialize instead.
Both Donna Devoe and Darlene Murphy had a reading. Darlene Murphy read “My Christmas List of Blessings.” It was very nice and meaningful.
After the meeting adjourned, the club held its annual auction with Donald Devoe as the auctioneer. Donna Devoe helped deliver the items to the winners.
There will be no meeting Dec. 23rd, because of the Christmas weekend.
Birthdays for December were: Phil Buchanan on the 1st and Irene Whitaker on the 8th. There were no anniversaries.
