Halfway Home Pet Rescue (HHPR) volunteers warn all people that even a short time outside can be life threatening to their pets during the winter months. “Poor little Frosty came into HHPR after being out in the winter elements for a unknown amount of time and was unable to move when he was rescued,” said HHRP President Normal Milton. Frosty is now slowly recovering from his abandonment issues. Frosty will lose at least half of his right ear and perhaps a small portion of his left ear to frostbite; his feet are blistered from the extreme cold and it still hurts him to walk, but he is doing much better a week after his rescue. “The pain of the frostbite still makes him fear being touched, but he is gentle once you hold him,” Milton said. “Fortunately for this kitty, someone saw him and brought him to the rescue; many animals are not so lucky.” Frosty will probably be available for adoption in late February.
