HOULTON — So far, only one individual has expressed interest in filling a vacancy on the SAD 29 school board.
According to Cathy O’Leary, Houlton Town Clerk, Paul Cleary is the only resident to apply for the empty seat on the school board. Cleary, a former town councilor, ran for the school board in the November, 2009 election, but was unsuccessful in his bid.
The seat became open when board member Lisa Harvey resigned from the position in January, after moving out of the town she represented. The successful candidate must be a registered voter from Houlton and will fill the remainder of Harvey’s term, which expires in November.
Interested individuals may submit a letter of interest to O’Leary by mail to: Town of Houlton, 21 Water St., Houlton, ME, 04730. Individuals may also show up at the next Houlton Town Council on Monday, Feb. 28 to express their desire to fill the seat. The council will fill the position at that meeting.
