PRESQUE ISLE — Officials at the Aroostook State Park will be hosting their fourth annual Winter Family Fun Day on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Families, friends and outdoor enthusiasts everywhere are invited to come enjoy the best of winter in the wonderful Maine outdoors. Expert ski and snowshoeing instruction will be available to help you enjoy all that winter has to offer, as well as a number of other outdoor activities for the whole family,” said Scott Thompson, park director.
Activities for the day include: cross country skiing, snowshoeing, sliding, snowmobile tote sled rides, dog sled rides, ice harvesting demos and guided nature/bird walks.
“Loaner equipment will be on site for your convenience, or you can bring your own equipment,” said Thompson, adding, “ice skating will be offered on the lake, conditions permitting, but participants must bring their own skates.”
Those attending are advised to dress appropriately for the weather.
“A warming hut, coffee and hot chocolate, and a bonfire will be available all day. Lunch is provided,” said Thompson.
As in the past, there will be a drop-off area for items to be donated to Feed the County.
“Let’s help our neighbors by bringing a non-perishable/canned food item,” said Thompson.
The fee is $1.50 per adult between the ages of 12 and 64. All others are free. There will be a $2 per-person donation for the dog sled rides. For more information, call 768-8341.
