In honor of Women’s History Month, all female veterans are invited to attend a gathering on Friday, March 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Caribou Veterans’ Center to enjoy each other’s company, honor their military service and to learn about resources available to all women veterans.
The March 18 event will be an informal affair for veterans to mingle but also to learn about Women Veterans’ services. Administrators at the center will facilitate informal discussions between veterans as well as service providers. Laronda Harris, the women’s coordinator from Togus VA; program staff representing Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom and Terry Moore from the Maine Advisory Commission on Women Veterans are some of the service providers who will be in attendance.
The Caribou Vet Center will have T-shirts and other items to give away in order to commemorate the event and to promote Vet Center outreach.
Information about obtaining the women veteran’s medallion/coins will be provided as well as articles and resources specific to women veteran’s roles, past and present.
Light refreshments will be available during the event.
For more information or for directions to the facility (located at 456 York Street in Caribou), call 496-3900.
