MONTICELLO – Shirley Lynds Lenentine, 86, died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Madigan House in Houlton. She was born May 25, 1924 in Monticello, the daughter of John and Zena (Lockard) Lynds.
Shirley attended Monticello schools and Ricker Classical Institute. She married Stuart Lenentine in July 1944 and they were married for 66 years. They enjoyed working together on their family farm for many years. Shirley enjoyed picking wild berries, working at harvest time and was known as one of those 100 barrel a day pickers. She made beautiful embroidery heirlooms, but her grandchildren think her best achievement was her homemade bread.
Shirley is survived by her four children, Sandra Roy and her husband, Thom, of Fremont, NH, Wayne Lenentine and his wife, Jane, Kim Lenentine and his fiancé, Gidget Noyes, all of Houlton, Kevin Lenentine and his wife, Sherry, of Monticello; five special grandchildren, Zena Roy Bilavsky, Elka Roy, Lisa Lenentine Andersen, Rebecca Lenentine and Joshua Lenentine; one great-grandson, Keenan Roy Bilavsky; one much adored sister, Dorothy Lynds Hansen; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Stuart Lenentine in Feb. 2010.
Friends called at the Dunn Funeral Home Sunday 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Carl DeMerchant officiating. Friends were invited to a time of fellowship following the funeral at the Littleton Meduxnekeag Ramblers Club House.
