East Grand School
Grade Five
Once upon a time, there was a Swing named Thomas. He was the most popular swing in the whole elementary school. He was in 5th grade, age 12, with brown spikey hair. His friends are Trevor, Brady and Haleigh. Trevor was 11 with brown hair. Brady was 12 and had brown hair. Haleigh was also 12 with long, blond hair, straight not curly. They don’t take the bus, they walk because they live close to the school.
On the first day of school after summer vacation, they wore black shirts and black jeans. Their teacher’s name was Ms. Harbison. She was a nice teacher. She just graduated from college. She was 22 years old and she had blonde hair like Haleigh. After school, Thomas went to the park to swing, but he couldn’t swing. He tried and tried and tried, but it would not move.
Then Trevor, Haleigh and Brady came over and Trevor said, “What is wrong?” Thomas said the he started to swing, but he would not move. They all tried to make him move. They picked him up and brought him home. His mother said curiously, “What happened?” Thomas said, “I was trying to swing and I could not move.” His mother called the doctor and the doctor said to bring him in that day at 3:30 sharp and it was 3:29. So his mom rushed him to the hospital. The doctor said that he had to do an x-ray. The doctor said that he needed new chains and it would not take long, so he got new chains.
