Eight young ladies graced the stage at the Caribou Performing Arts Center on March 27, each competing for the rights to the 2011 Little Miss crown and title from their respective hometowns of Caribou, Connor and Woodland.
Each of the eight contestants participated in the categories of fashion walk, talent and evening gowns during the afternoon event. Interviews with the judges were held prior to the event. This is the first time a three -title Little Miss pageant has been held. According to Cheryl Bossie, pageant director, it gives more young girls a chance to participate in the Maine Potato Blossom pageant and activities. The annual event is sponsored by the Lister/Knowlton VFW Auxiliary.
An opening dance was performed by all the young contenders, led by 2010 Little Miss Caribou Brooke Haney. The catchy dance, choreographed by Paige Small, was done to the music of, “Under the Sea.”
Other special entertainment throughout the pageant was provided by Amber Moir, 2010 Little Miss Potato Blossom; 2010 Little Miss Caribou Brooke Haney; 2011 Pre-Teen Caribou Kyra Thibeault and 2010 Jr. Miss Caribou Victoria Keaton.
Seeking the 2011 Little Miss Caribou title were Alexis Doreon, Elizabeth Zell and MacKenna Smith; hoping to be named Little Miss Connor were contestants Sipsis Paul and Victoria Leavitt; while Little Miss Woodland hopefuls included Amanda Poulin, Brooke Moir and Macy Wakem.
The eight contestants provided their large CPAC audience and the three pageant judges, with an afternoon filled with impressive talent presentations, dazzling smiles and gowns.
Claiming the 2011 crowns were MacKenna Smith, Little Miss Caribou; Victoria Leavitt, Little Miss Connor and Brooke Moir, Little Miss Woodland.
Brooke Moir was voted the pageant’s Miss Congeniality by her peers; named winner of the judges’ interview and the talent segment was Victoria Leavitt; while MacKenna Smith captured the evening gown and fashion walk categories of the event.
Other awards included the first three highest ticket sales which went to Victoria Leavitt, Macy Wakem and Brooke Moir respectively.
Judges for the 2011 Little Miss Pageant were Susan Watson of Presque Isle; Andrea Perreault of Van Buren; and Chantell Pelletier of Easton.
The Lister/Knowlton VFW Auxiliary offered their sincere thanks to Sandi Bouchard, mistress of ceremonies; Candace Roy, backstage manager; Shirley Dumas, ticket sales coordinator; Paula Gorence, stage design; hairstylists from Images and A Second Glance; Paige Small, choreographer; Nicole Bossie, program and ticket design/curtain and props; Andre Dumas ticket and program printing/and Duane McCubrey, videographer.
All proceeds from the annual Little Miss Pageant benefit the Lister/KnowltonVFW Auxiliary cancer research program which includes providing grants to auxiliary members stricken with cancer; fellowships and cancer research done at the Jackson Laboratory.
