MARS HILL — Fall and winter sports awards were handed out on Friday, March 25 at Central Aroostook High School. A delicious dessert bar was offered before the awards were presented.

SKI TEAM HONORED — State Representative Tyler Clark presented a legislative sentiment to the Central Aroostook boys alpine ski team for bringing home the state Class C title. The presentation was made during the school’s sports awards program held March 25. From left are, assistant coach Kyle Larrabee, Josh Cook, Clark, Kaine Kingsbury, coach Dennis Larrabee, Taylor Garrison, Logan Brewer and Spencer Stetson.

 

State Representative Tyler Clark made special presentations to the three state champion teams: the CAHS boys alpine ski team for winning the Class C title, the CAHS cheerleaders for winning Class D for the fourth year in a row and a record nine times in total, and the boys basketball team for winning the Class D crown.

Varsity girls basketball coach Rod Codrey presented awards to his team: most improved – Kayla Cushman; best point guard and most assists – Rachael Grew; most unselfish, most rebounds and most steals – Kristen Long; best overall player and most valuable – Vicki McIntyre. The Coaches Award was presented to Kayla Cushman for “giving 100 percent at all times.”

Golf coach Adam Metzler presented Coaches Awards to Logan McLaughlin and Kaine Kingsbury. Varsity girls soccer coach Dave Collins presented the Coaches Award to Long.

Varsity boys soccer coach Wallace Endy told the audience to “just sit back and relax” as he got ready to talk about his team. He then unfolded his notes, and the stream of paper wasn’t done unfolding when it hit the floor! Those in attendance were relieved when this year he only took 12 minutes to describe his season and present his Coaches Award to Matt Amnott and Spencer Stetson.

Varsity alpine skiing coach Dennis Larrabee presented his Coaches Award to Logan Brewer. Other teams recognized included the junior high girls soccer, junior high boys soccer, junior high cheering, junior high girls basketball, junior high boys basketball, JV boys basketball and varsity cheering.

Players named as All Aroostook included: golf – Kingsbury and McLaughlin, boys soccer – Dan Brewer, Tyler Rusby and Spencer Stetson; girls soccer – Grew, Long and McIntyre.

Special thanks were extended to Robert Holmes for running the clock at all the basketball games and to Ethan Pryor for running lines at the soccer games. Athletic Director Ryan Guerrette also extended a big “thank-you” to all those who helped make the sports season the success it is – parents, players, coaches and townspeople.
