BS-Healthy Aroostook-dcx-pt-13The Healthy Aroostook Team at Mill Pond School, Hodgdon, celebrated “Kick Butts Day” on March 23, 2011. “Kick Butts day” is a nationwide effort to get the facts out to youth about how choosing to use tobacco affects their lives and the lives of those around them. They can make better choices if they have been educated about all aspects of tobacco, including tactics that big tobacco companies use to target youth. The team at Mill Pond School focused on the fact that about 2200 Mainers die each year from tobacco-related diseases. They dressed in black and spent the day in silence to promote awareness of this number.  Team members created a bulletin board highlighting the number 2200 and created posters throughout the school. Students participating were: front from left, Rachel Harmon, Lillie McGuire and Jamie Theriault; and back Deserae Brewer, Alyssa Carmichael, Jessi Tracy and Christopher Hudson.
