    Dennis Eugene Friel, 62, of Whitefield, died April 29 in his home after a recent illness and surgery. He was born on January 30, 1949 in Portland, a son of Karl Clark and Arlene Mary (Foley) Friel. He attended schools in Scarborough, Topsfield, Princeton, and graduated from Lee Academy in Lee. He held various jobs, including working for Guy Friel & Sons, Blue Rock Construction, and Sea Coast Ocean Services. The past several years, he owned and operated an auto sales and repair shop.
    He is survived by his mother, Arlene Friel, 91, of Houlton, his wife of 40 years, Charlotte (Baiguy) Friel; three sons and four daughters, Donna Johnson of China, ME, Samson Friel of Waterville, Jennifer Friel of Hollis, Ian Friel of Whitefield, Elijah Friel of Rockland, Rachel Friel of Augusta and Rebekah Friel of Whitefield; a brother, K. Patrick Friel of Stuart, FL; three sisters, Maureen Friel of Cary, Kathy Perez of Kansas City, MO, and Peggy Robinson of Houlton; ten grandchildren, Emily, Jeremy, Samson, Thomas, Daniel, Jared, Joshua, Natalie, Adam, Matthew, and one great-grandchild, Aiden.
    On April 30, there was a private gathering of family and friends for his burial.
