Houlton gun show successful

The Houlton Rifle and Pistol Club held its 24th annual Gun Show in April at the John Millar Civic Center in Community Park.
The show featured 17 dealers displaying goods on 69 tables and a paid gate of nearly 800 people. Based on earlier attendance figure, the event was a huge success, which the HRPC credits to the April show dates and another good turn out by the Canadian neighbors.
Raffle tickets were sold at the door for a Smith and Wesson Model 22A pistol, first prize, won by D.J. Fitzpatrick; second prize, a Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 rifle won by Doug Britton and third prize, a Smith and Wesson SWAT knife won by Rob McArdle.
The HRPC is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to safe recreational rifle and pistol shooting. The club shooting range is located near the Houlton International Airport.
On May 1 at their monthly meeting, the membership of the HRPC elected officers for the coming year. They are: Rod Hemingway, president; John Cleary, vice president; Paul Harrison, secretary/treasurer; Tim Glossinger, publicity director and Tom Brown, range officer and gun show chairman.
The next meeting of the HRPC is scheduled for June 5 at 7 p.m. with shooting to follow. All members are encouraged to attend.
