Six-year-old Arianna Easter, a kindergarten student at the New Sweden School, was recently presented a Life Safety certificate by Caribou Fire Chief Roy Woods. The award was given in recognition of the young lady’s knowledge of fire safety and remembering the importance of a safe meeting place. On May 1, there was a fire at the Easter home and Arianna, directed by her Dad, kept her two younger sisters, Jolene,4, and Shelby, 2, with her away from the structure until the girls’ grandmother arrived.

“The certificate was to recognize Arianna’s bravery in keeping her younger sisters with her at the “family meeting place, while firefighters were controlling the fire in their house,” stated Chief Woods, “she kept her sisters safe during the fire.”

Chief Woods not only presented Arianna with the certificate but also offered a public thank you to Mrs. Matilla, for her help in teaching the Learn Not to Burn Program in the New Sweden School.
