Little League schedule

The Caribou Little League season kicks off Thursday with the opening ceremony taking place at the Robert P. White Field beginning at 6:30 p.m. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held Friday at the same time.

The game schedule for May 13-17 is as follows: Friday, May 13 (to be played Saturday, May 14 if it rains Thursday): Shop ’n Save at VFW, Knights of Columbus at Woodland Tigers, Key Bank and North Stars; Saturday, Monday, May 16: Woodland Tigers at Sleepers; Tuesday, May 17: Shop ’n Save at S.W. Collins, Savings Bank of Maine at Woodland Eagles.

“Dust the bike off night”

May is National Bike Month, in celebration of this, the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department is offering a “Dust the Bike off Night” tonight from 6-7:30 p.m. as part of Cary Medical Center’s Healthy You Program.

This program is intended for beginners to intermediate riders who are looking to prolong the life of their bike and get the most out of their rides. Participants will be eligible to win a bike pump and helmet. Call 493-4224 for more information.

Pitch, Hit and Run in Limestone Saturday

The Limestone Recreation Department will host a local Pitch, Hit and Run Competition for boys and girls in the following age divisions: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14. This competition will be held Saturday, May 14 beginning at 9 a.m. at the recreation fields.

Fitness walking in Limestone

Join the Limestone Parks and Recreation Department after school for fitness walking on the town’s safe walking paths. This is being offered to K-12 students in the Limestone school system. Times are Mondays, 2:30-3:30 p.m.; Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m.; Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m.; and Thursdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m.

In the event of rain, walking will be done inside the school. The two people who walk the farthest until the end of the school year will win a prize. Call 325-4791 or 551-1204 to sign up.

13-15 year-old baseball

Application forms are now available for the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department’s 13-15 year old summer baseball program. To be eligible, players must be 13 years of age before May 1, 2011 and not reach age 16 before May 1, 2011.

A player who played last season and any new player must register each year to be eligible to play. All first-year players must also bring a copy of their birth certificate. There is a registration fee of $25 for each player in the league. Applications must be completed and returned with the fee by June 3.

Registration forms may be picked up at the Caribou Recreation Department. For further information, call 493-4224.

16-18 year-old baseball

Application forms are now available for the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department’s 16-18 year old summer baseball program. To be eligible, players must be 16 years of age before May 1, 2011 and not reach age 19 before May 1, 2011.

Hershey Track and Field

The Hershey Track and Field program, open to boys and girls ages 9-14, introduces youths to the basic fundamentals of running, throwing and jumping. Boys and girls participating in this program may be eligible to move onto the Hershey Track and Field regional finals.

This program is under way and runs through June 9. Youths interested in participating in this program are encouraged to register now, as pre-registration is required. For additional information or to register, call the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department at 493-4224.
