Dahlgren, Vincent A., 94, of Bangor and Perham, on May 17, 2011. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Caribou.


BANGOR – Vincent A. Dahlgren, 94, husband of the late Avis (Edstrand) Dahlgren, passed away peacefully May 17, 2011, at a local health care facility. He was born March 3, 1917, in Perham, son of Percy and Etta (Nielander) Dahlgren.     Vincent grew up in Aroostook County where he met and married his beloved wife, Avis, Dec. 14, 1940. On March 15, 1947, they celebrated the birth of twins, Dana and Donetta. Known as a hard worker, Vince was a pipe fitter for U.A. Local 321. He was a master Mason – Washburn Lodge, York Rite and Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of Anah Shrine. He had various interests, spending time as a licensed pilot, craftsman, beekeeper and gardener. He was also very proud of his Swedish heritage and will be remembered for his smile.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents; brother, Vernon Dahlgren; and sister-in-law, Dorothy “Susie” Dahlgren, all of Caribou.

Vincent is survived by his son, Dana Dahlgren and his wife, Joyce (Sadler) Dahlgren, of Glenburn; his daughter, Donetta “Dee” Leighton and her husband, Cary, of Glenburn; three grandchildren, Carrie Lynn (Dahlgren) Chilson and her husband, Scott, of Clermont, Fla., Kyle Leighton of Portland, and Ashley Leighton of Carrboro, N.C.; and three great-grandsons, Luke Chilson, Zander Chilson and Connor Chilson, all of Clermont, Fla.
