The Katahdin Lady Cougars enter the season with an experienced battery of pitcher Myah Smallwood and catcher Mariah Williams, the only two seniors on the squad.
The Lady Cougars field four sophomores and five freshmen and no juniors, along with the two seniors.
“We have a lot of inexperience and it will take some time,” said Katahdin coach Terry Duffy. “But, we hope to make the playoffs.”
Sophomores handle the rest of the infield, as Makayla Patterson is at first base, Brianna Majowski is at second, Bailey McNally anchors third and Megan Merry is at shortstop.
In the outfield, Duffy and assistant Matt Lindsay rotate their freshmen — Shiloh Shaw, Elizabeth Knowles, Maryssa McDonald, Mackenzie Merry and Autumn Knowles.
Duffy said, “They will all get playing time.”
