Woodland School once again was awarded another grant for the current school year from the Maine Community Foundation for over $1,700. The purpose of the grant was to expand the existing previously funded snowshoe program.
Last year the school was awarded enough money to purchase 29 pairs of snowshoes to outfit students in grades K-4 and implement snowshoeing into the PE program. The snowshoes are also available to use during the Winter Carnival and the after-school program.
This year the school was awarded another grant to purchase an additional 22 pairs of snowshoes to finish outfitting the students in grades 5-8. The school has a cross-country ski trail, which can also be used for snowshoeing and the surrounding wooded area lends itself to the students the opportunity to enjoy bushwacking.
David and Sandy Perloff from the Perloff Family Foundation are the supporters of the grants that have been awarded to U122. For more information, go to pcleghorn@maineecf.org.
