The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday morning, June 7, at 6:30 at the Aroostook Health Center.

The special speaker was Bruce Chapman, operations manager at First Wind’s Mars Hill facility. He spoke about the 28 turbines on Mars Hill Mountain.

First Wind employs three people (two local) while General Electric employs six people (five local) at the site. First Wind is responsible for the transmission of the power, while GE is responsible for maintenance and upkeep. Bruce showed pictures of some of the maintenance work being done and some of the damage done to the blades by lightening strikes.
