As Fourth of July weekend approached, VaJoWa Golf Course members have been busy participating in various leagues. On Tuesday June 28 was the weekly Ladies League play. This week they played a scramble format with two teams tying with a score of 35. The first team consisted of Carol Blood, Sally Cyr, Connie Hollis and Betty Smallwood. The other team to shoot the one under par 35 was Becky Kelley, Jarice Kelley and Terry Pettengill.
On July 3, the weekly Co-Ed Golf League was underway as the format for this week was alternate shot. The first place team for this week was Stu Kelley and Sara Douglas, followed by Jon Smallwood and Sally Cyr. Finishing in third place was the combination of Peter Blood and Bev Osborn.
On July 4, VaJoWa held its annual Flag Day tournament where members and non-members are more than welcome to play. The format for this event is for any level of golfer by taking the golfer’s handicap and adding par. The participant gets that amount of strokes to play as many holes as they can. Once the strokes has been played, the player must plant their flag in the ground. The results for this event will be posted next week.
The next event at VaJoWa Golf Course will be the annual Red, White, and Blue Scramble. The format for this event is a four-person scramble playing six holes from the blue tees, six from the white tees and six from the red tees.
