God and understanding the Bible

To the editor:

Through the ages since the beginning of time people have had a problem understanding the Word of God and the manner in which He rules the universe.

God does not tell us where He came from, but in the Holy Bible, God is viewed not as some impersonal principal but as the living Lord of History, the Creator of the Universe. He is able to do everything, which is consistent with His nature and will. He knows all things instantaneously and eternally, that His knowledge is all comprehensive and certain, internally devoid of darkness or lack of knowledge. He is someway present in all points of space and time.

During the period of the Old Testament, before Jesus came, there were the prophets. The prophets were human beings to whom God made revelations regarding His will for communication to mankind. These prophets were messengers of God. The language of the prophets characteristically fluctuates between good and evil. Judgement of the present is offset by expressions of hope for the future.

After Jesus came, there were the apostles. The term is first used in connection with the twelve, a group of highly honored believers chosen by Jesus to assist Him in His evangelical mission. They were messengers of God. These messengers left the world a guide referred to as the Holy Bible, the Word of God: directions for how to live our lives.

Since the beginning of time, people have attempted to translate the words of God into a language of human views and searching for an answer to His way of ruling the universe, but He plainly tells us, “My thoughts are not your thoughts and My ways are not your ways.”

Our churches are empty and people are turned off by the way some ministers, priests, clergy and leaders in our churches live their lives. They talk the talk but don’t walk the walk. God tells us you can’t serve two masters.

We hear the words quite often, the church must change its views to meet the changes of our modern day world but God tells us, “For I am Lord, I change not.” Jesus tells us “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today and forever.” So if they have never changed or never will, why would they allow man to change the meaning of their word? The things that were a sin when the words of The Bible were written are still a sin.

Revelation 22:18 tells us, “If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book and if any man shall take away from the words of this book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the Book of Life.”

Our government’s foundation is beginning to decay and crumble. It was founded on our forefathers’ faith in God, but our modern day leaders have taken us off this pathway and led us down a road that leads to destruction.

Our churches are empty as a result of the congregations leaving their first love, which was God and Jesus Christ. Wealth and material things of this life have overshadowed what The Bible tells us to do in order to become a Christian, and remain a Christian that we might have eternal life in heaven when our earthly life is over.

When non-Christians see Christians living and conducting themselves as true Christians, they will have something to believe in and people will once again start attending our churches and return to the faith of our forefathers.
