A BYOB social hour will begin at 4:30 p.m. with a short business meeting to take place at 5 p.m.. The dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. The menu is lobster ($20) or steak ($15) with baked potato, vegetable, rolls, dessert and beverage. Bring your own pickers and crackers. Board members are asked to bring a dessert to share. Please call Birch Point (463-2515) to place an order for either lobster or steak. Volunteers are needed to set up, cook, serve and clean up. Regatta Series starts Saturday
A three-race regatta will be held on East Grand Lake, sponsored by the Peter’s Cove Yacht Club. The first of the races will take place on Saturday .
Subsequent races are also Saturdays: July 30 and Aug. 13. One of the three races will be a ‘throw-away’ race, for example, the skipper can eliminate the race with the worst time. Winners of the regatta in each class are determined using the Portsmouth Yardstick, a method of handicapping by class of boat.
Membership in the PCYC is only $25 per year and open to anyone. Interested sailors should contact Paul LaPointe at 532-7926 or by e-mail lapointe_04730@yahoo.com prior to Saturday for complete PCYC racing information.
The day of the first race coincides with the annual Chiputneticook Lakes International Conservancy (CLIC) hot dog roast held on Half Moon Island, which is held from 11a.m. to 1 p.m.. One need not be a member to CLIC to come to the picnic.
