Warm conditions for County Cycle Classic

Despite some long hills and warm weather, Brandon McLaughlin of Fort Fairfield out pedaled a very competitive field of cyclists at the County Cycle Classic race on Sunday, July 10.

Brandon McLaughlin of Fort Fairfield was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 1:03.42.74 in the County Cycle Classic held this past Sunday.

The 25-mile race, which started from the Acadian Village north of Van Buren, followed US Rt. 1 and the rolling hills of that section of the St. John Valley and ended in close proximity to Cary Medical Center in Caribou.

McLaughlin logged in at 1:03.42, while in the women’s division Patrica Hebert of Edmundston, NB won with a time of 1:15.24.

Other division winners are as follows:

Road Racing, male 15-19, Christian Sleeper; male 20-29, Kyle Washington; male 30-39, Matt Michaud; male 40-49, Greg Collins; male 50-59, Von Perry; male 60-69, Marcel Bastide; women 30-39, Kate Knowles.

Touring, male 14 and under, Luke Bailey; male 15-19, Tyler Strid, male 40 and older, Dale Bailey.

Shawn Berry was recognized as the first Caribou finisher.
